Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice is a fan favorite despite never playing in a regular season game. The connection is proof of good character.

Fans of the Washington Redskins love to bring it up, but that’s because it seems so ridiculous. Before the 2018 NFL Draft, the big “problem” with Derrius Guice was that he had “character issues” according to some in the media.

Since basically the moment he was drafted, Guice has been nothing but an exemplary role model. He endears himself to the fans like not many others. Just in the last few days alone, Guice has: Started a thread on Twitter where he retweets pictures fans post that they took with him, invited fans to race him, paid a fan $2 for a Fortnite bet.

Speaking of Fortnite, Guice is consistently playing the video game (along with NBA 2K19) with fans. He’ll announce on Twitter and his Twitch stream that he’s looking for teammates or opponents, giving fans a chance to play and connect with him.

Thanks to his willingness to interact with the fans, Guice has become a massive fan favorite. It’s easy to root for the guy who genuinely seems like he wants to spend time making everyone happy.

The crazy thing is, it will be even easier for fans to cheer for Guice once he gets a chance to play. A sickening combination of speed, power and finesse makes him extremely dangerous on the field. He was able to showcase it in his limited time in the 2018 preseason.

According to reports around the 2018 draft, Derrius Guice had character issues. After nearly a year in the NFL, it’s clear that those reports couldn’t be further from the truth. Guice has been able to connect with the fans better than almost anyone recently, a task that seems as fulfilling for him as it is for the people.

What this has done is create even more excitement for when everyone can finally see him take the field for the Washington Redskins again. I’m going to guess he’ll have an even bigger fanbase by then.
