The Chicago Bears have key defensive backs who may leave this offseason. Here are free agent options they should target.

After a great 2018 season, the Chicago Bears look to build on that success. Last offseason, general manager Ryan Pace overhauled the offense and made a huge deal on defense to reverse all the losing.

This offseason, he needs to tweak the roster. That may entail making the tough decision to replace players currently on the team. That means they need to either decide whether to resign their players or part ways with those under contract so they could free up cap space.

The Bears have those decisions to make at the defensive back spot. They have two key players, cornerback Bryce Callahan and safety Adrian Amos, who become free agents. Pace and company need to decide if the Bears spend the money to keep one or both or move on from both.

Chuck Pagano takes over as defensive coordinator after his predecessor, Vic Fangio, left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos. Fangio left a great defense for Pagano, but Pagano wants to make the unit even better. The decisions this offseason go a long way to making that happen.

Callahan and Amos were key to helping the Bears defense be as dominant as it was. Pro Football Focus ranked the top cornerbacks in each division and the top three in the NFC North were all Chicago Bears players. Callahan was the second-ranked cornerback, behind Kyle Fuller.

Amos has quietly done a good job in his time in Chicago. In 2018, he recorded a career-high in tackles (73) and interceptions (2). He complemented well with Eddie Jackson. His best two seasons came while playing alongside Jackson. The Bears must decide if his play is a result of the system and playing with Jackson or if it was him just developing and getting better.

This free agency crop is deep with defensive players. While the NFL is a pass-happy offensive league, the Bears and other teams showed that defense is still very important. With all the available players, the Bears can find a good option at a bargain price.
