The Indianapolis Colts have nailed their rebuild, and they can keep that progress by acing their first-round pick in this year’s draft.

The Indianapolis Colts have eight draft picks this year, and, after experiencing great success in the first year of the Frank Reich era, they’ll be looking to build on that with some top talent. They have the 26th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and they have only a few holes that need a major talent boost. Most of them come on the defensive side of the ball, where the team played above its head in 2018 and could use some help.

This draft is deep in the first round, and they should be able to grab a Day 1 starter even at their current draft slot. General manager Chris Ballard has been masterful in his first two seasons at the helm, as he has found contributors with nearly every signing or pick that he has made. With the wealth of cap space they have, he’ll likely try to add a couple big names to lessen the number of draft needs they will have to address.

Quarterback Andrew Luck could use an additional weapon or two, and the defense can get better at defending the pass. It will also be interesting to see who the team chooses to bring back among their own free agents as they have 27 of them.

For the purposes of this exercise, we’re going to act as if no signings have been made because most of the players will help the team regardless of whether any free agents are brought back. With that, let’s get into the potential targets for Indianapolis with the 26th overall selection in the draft.
