New York Jets: Most notable player to wear each number

51. Jonathan Vilma

Next is a draft pick for the Jets that did actually work out, linebacker Jonathan Vilma. He was drafted by the Jets in 2004 and spent the first four seasons in New York before signing with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent and playing there until his retirement in 2013.

The three-time Pro Bowler put up a stat line of 432 tackles, 17 of them for a loss of yards, six interceptions, six forced fumbles, and one touchdown during his time with the Jets. He made one Pro Bowl while in New York in 2005.

52. John Schmitt

The long-time center for the Jets, John Schmitt played 10 seasons in New York from 1964-73. He went on to play one more season in the league for the Packers in 1974 before retiring. During his tenure, he was a part of the Super Bowl III winning team along with Namath.

53. Jim Sweeney

Another long-time offensive lineman for New York, Jim Sweeney played for the Jets from 1984-94 and played all across their offensive line. He went on to play for the Seahawks and the Steelers before retiring following the 1999 season. Sweeney started a total of 158 games for the gang green.

54. Marvin Jones

Marvin Jones played a total of 10 seasons in the league at the linebacker position, all wearing the glorious green and white. He was brought in as a rookie in 1993 and retired following the 2003 season. He finished his time as a Jets lifer with five picks, eight forced fumbles, over 1,000 career tackles, and nine sacks from the second level.

55. Bobby Houston

Fellow 90s linebacker Bobby Houston came to the Jets in 1991 after one season in Green Bay. He played six years in New York until 1996; Houston also played for Kansas City, San Diego, and Minnesota after departing the Big Apple. While a member of the Jets, he recorded four interceptions and six forced fumbles, scoring one touchdown. Houston also tallied over 300 tackles and 14.5 sacks for his outside backer spot.
