New York Jets: Most notable player to wear each number

41. Matt Snell

From 1964-72, Matt Snell was the starting fullback for the New York Jets and played his entire career in the gang green. He was named to three Pro Bowls, and was an All-Pro in 1969. Snell finished his career with 4,300 yards and 24 touchdowns for the Jets.

42. Ronnie Lott

The 10-time Pro Bowler and six time all-pro safety Ronnie Lott played the final two seasons of his decorated career in New York with the Jets from 1993-94. He spent his first 10 seasons with the 49ers and two seasons with the Raiders before coming to New York.

In a career where he tallied a total of 63 interceptions five touchdowns and 16 forced fumbles, Lott put up three picks and six forced fumbles in the Big Apple. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2000.

43. Vance Joseph

The current defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals and former head coach of the Denver Broncos spent two seasons as a player in the NFL from 1995-96. His rookie season, he was a cornerback for the New York Jets before playing four games in Indianapolis. Definitely more decorated as a defensive coordinator than a defensive player, Joseph put up a total of two interceptions in his career, both with the Jets.

44. John Riggins

The bruising fullback, most known for his time in Washington, John Riggins began his career in New York and played five seasons from 1971-75 with the Jets before making his way to the nation’s capitol. He played an additional nine years for Washington and was named an all-pro one time.

In a career where Riggins tallied over 11,000 yards rushing and 104 touchdowns, he performed to the tune of about 3,900 of those yards and 25 of those scores while wearing the green and white. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992.

45. Dick Christy

Dick Christy was a halfback and special teamer for five seasons in the NFL from 1958-63. He played one season in Pittsburgh, and another year with the Boston Patriots before spending the remaining three seasons with the New York Titans/Jets.

While in the Big Apple, he rushed for a total of about 800 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, while he added another four touchdowns as a kick returner for the team. He was named an All-Pro in 1962 as a special teamer.
