10. Denver Broncos: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

It seemed like Drew Lock was the preferred pick for the Denver Broncos and all indications are he’s the apple of GM John Elway’s eye. However, with some quarterback-needy teams ahead of them, the Broncos might need to make a move to land Lock. And with them recently picking up Joe Flacco, that could be even less likely than it was before.

Considering that move for Flacco, the Broncos go elsewhere and they wind up with Greedy Williams out of LSU. This isn’t exactly a consolation prize as Denver gets arguably the best corner in the draft. He’s long, athletic, and has plenty of confidence.

Even with all the positive traits out there regarding Williams, Jordan Reid from Inside the Pylon likes the awareness shown by Williams above anything else, which he highlights in his scouting report.

"“One of the more encouraging traits about the standout corner is his ability to transition from phase to find the ball in the air and make a play on it. Often times with cornerback prospects in man coverage they are taught to play the arms of the receiver instead of turning their head around and locating the ball. When receivers put their arms in the air in an attempt to catch the ball, corners will swat at them after the ball is already within their reach. The difficult part about that is the timing, which leads to many penalties. This is not the case with Williams.” — Reid, Inside the Pylon"

The Broncos will continue to be a team that looks for wins with shutdown defense until they find their franchise quarterback. While they miss out on Lock here, they do land a stud corner that helps them with their defensive prowess.
