24. Oakland Raiders (via Chicago Bears): Jaylon Ferguson, EDGE, Louisiana Tech

Adding Ed Oliver early on was huge for the Oakland Raiders. Now, with the first pick they acquired in the Khalil Mack trade, they land a player they hope can replace their former edge rusher in Jaylon Ferguson. While the Louisiana Tech defensive end has the tools to be a stud, he does come with some red flags which were brought to light as the NFL rescinded his offer to workout at the Scouting Combine.

"“The impetus behind the NFL’s decision to pull Ferguson’s invitation was a simple battery conviction stemming from a fight during his freshman year at Louisiana Tech. The NFL has a policy banning players from the Combine if they’ve had a history of violent crimes. Off-field issues are likely to affect Ferguson’s draft stock. Although he’s a very good pass rusher — a position the NFL values highly — that battery conviction isn’t Ferguson’s only red flag. He was also charged with public intoxication in college.” — Michael David Smith, Pro Football Talk"

Even with those concerns, Ferguson should be an early pick. He picked up 45 sacks in four seasons and added seven forced fumbles. He’s a disruptive force and should be an impact player early on in his career.
