5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida

On the board at No. 5 is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were mentioned in the intro to this mock as a team that just hired a new head coach. After going 19-29 in three seasons — including consecutive 5-11 campaigns — the Bucs parted with Dirk Koetter and hired Bruce Arians, who was retired during the 2018 NFL season.

Arians is considered one of the better offensive minds in the game and had an instant positive impact on the Arizona Cardinals win-loss record when he joined them in 2013. Back then he was also taking over a 5-11 club and made them a 10-win franchise in his first year.

There’s enough talent on the Bucs roster to hope for similar results, but he will need to iron out a few wrinkles. One area of concern is the offensive line which underperformed in 2018. And in this mock, no one has taken any player on the O-line, giving Tampa the option to take their favorite player up front.

Florida’s Jawaan Taylor winds up being the selection, and it’s a good one. He completely manhandled whoever lined up across from him for the Gators and is a complete player. There will be those who say this is too high for him as Taylor played right tackle at Florida, but he’s too good to slide far and is definitely a top-5 talent. Plus, there’s a chance he can move to the left side considering his athleticism.

Even if he does stay at the right tackle spot, this is a player who will line up and win battles for your team for the next 15 years. So, yes, he’s worth it, even if he plays on the right side.
