8. Detroit Lions: N’Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State

Up until this past draft, recent first-round wide receivers have been rather hit and miss. Players such as Corey Coleman, Josh Doctson and Laquon Treadwell have all fallen short of expectations. Even the players who have produced — Corey Davis, Will Fuller — haven’t been wildly consistent.

Then in 2018, the Carolina Panthers took D.J. Moore and the Atlanta Falcons selected Calvin Ridley. Each had good first seasons in the NFL and show a lot of promise going forward as potential No. 1 receivers for their respective teams.

Here, the Detroit Lions get in on the fun and hope to have a player who falls more in line with Moore and Ridley than the previous misses. Their pick is N’Keal Harry, who becomes the first wideout taken in this mock. Harry put up fantastic numbers for ASU as he was able to win with his size as well as his athleticism. Harry is also electric after the catch as he’s able to rack up yardage after hauling the pass in.

Receiver may not feel like a huge need in Detroit, but after trading away Golden Tate last season, they’re showing that they’re ready to start rebuilding their roster with new talent.
