5 Wide receivers for New York Jets to target in 2019 NFL free agency
By Cory Kinnan
Adam Humphries
Adam Humphries is yet another talented slot receiver set to hit the open market after four seasons in Tampa Bay after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Made in the same mold as the previously mentioned Beasley, Humphries would be a younger option for the Jets to explore bringing to the Big Apple.
Over the last three seasons in Tampa Bay, Humphries has seen over 80 targets each season and has exceeded the 600 yard mark receiving, even with the room being crowded by Cameron Brate, O.J. Howard, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin. In 2018, Humphries really broke out with 76 catches on 100 targets and tallied over 800 yards and five scores playing in the slot under Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken.
Due to his age and coming off of a breakout deal, Humphries could get up to $9-10 million on the open market, and given Tampa Bay’s current cap situation, it is not likely that he will be in the sunshine state in 2019, unless Miami or Jacksonville make a move for him. He would be an ideal slot for Darnold and could be a long term option for the Jets to keep in the Big Apple.
