Sean Bunting, CB, Central Michigan

Vic Fangio’s defense utilizes a bunch of Cover-2 concepts. With their current corner situation and the lack of top-heavy talent, John Elway could wait to draft a corner. In fact, many of the corners that Fangio has coached during his time in Chicago weren’t top draft picks.

Chris Harris Jr. is still under contract and will easily remain the best corner on the Broncos roster. Last season, Denver drafted Isaac Yiadom in the third round of the 2018 draft. His rookie season was like a redshirt year and, luckily, Fangio’s defense fits his skill-set.

The Broncos could opt to allow both Roby and Brock to leave via free agency. Yiadom can man the boundary, Chris Harris can play the nickel and, perhaps incoming rookie Sean Bunting could play as the other boundary corner.

Fangio’s defense would maximize the Central Michigan product’s strengths. The 6-1, 180-pound corner does his best work in zone coverage. For starters, Bunting has great hips and enough speed to play deep passes and the length to match up with bigger receivers, as noted on The Draft Network:

"” Bunting has great physical gifts and the needed length to be a terror from the hip.”"

When flipping his hips, he does so with ease and quickness. Playing the ball in the air is also one of his strengths, making him an effective defender in the red zone.

On the third day of the draft, the Broncos could get a schematic fit in Bunting. He’ll come in right away and man the outside as player who specializes in zone coverage.
