1. Landon Collins comes to Oakland

With all of that money, the Raiders are destined to make at least one splash signing, right?

Well here it is. After putting together a pitiful performance in terms of slowing the pass this past season, Oakland turns its attention to the secondary. Although adding another starting-caliber cornerback would have been the best route, the market is thin at the position this offseason. Instead, the Raiders jump at the opportunity to sign an All-Pro safety.

Landon Collins may not be as big of a name as Raiders fans are hoping for, and that’s fine. What he brings to the field is far more valuable than notoriety. The New York Giants’ former second-round pick is a star in the secondary, boasting impeccable instincts, toughness and a knack for getting his hands on the football.

Isn’t that exactly what Oakland needs heading into 2019? He may not be a defensive end, but having Collins on the back end of the defense would absolutely give the Raiders’ pass rushers more time to hunt quarterbacks.

Honestly, I’m a big fan of the idea of Gruden inking Collins. He’s a tone setter and leader, both on and off the field. Those are the types of guys the Raiders need more of after an awful 2018 campaign, which makes this a bold and perfect potential free agency addition for the Silver and Black.
