The Chicago Bears have a dilemma this offseason — do they re-sign Bryce Callahan and Adrian Amos, or do they let one or both walk?

I believe the Bears keep Callahan. He was so valuable as a slot corner. He was the second-highest rated cornerback in the NFC North by Pro Football Focus. The Bears will want to keep the trio of Callahan, Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara together. If that happens, then the Bears need to find a replacement for Amos.

Enter Sheldrick Redwine. The 6-1, 195-pound safety can fill a need for the Bears. He is a big, physical safety who can play free or strong safety. With his size, he can take on tight ends and hold his own.

Redwine is an aggressive tackler. He isn’t reckless, however. He uses good technique, using good tackle angles, getting low, tying up the ball carrier’s legs and using his own to go through the tackle.

Daniel Jeremiah and Lance Zierlein, NFL.com’s draft experts, have Redwine as someone the Bears should target:

"Redwine took a step forward this past season and has the size and speed to potentially step into free agent Adrian Amos’ position, even as a middle-rounder. The fact that he has interchangeable safety talents and can cover tight ends makes him worth a closer look for the Bears."

One thing that should happen in 2019 with new defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano is more blitzes. The Bears defense was among the bottom in terms of blitzes in 2018. Redwine helps in that area. He blitzes well coming out of the slot.

The fact that Redwine isn’t as flashy or athletic as the other running backs in the draft will hurt his stock. He won’t wow anyone at the Combine so he’ll be available to the Bears. However, he does what is asked of him and he helps keep the chains moving. He’ll be an asset for the Chicago Bears offense.
