Now deep into pre-draft rumors and analysis, here is a defense heavy seven-round 2019 mock draft for Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders.

A week before the NFL Scouting Combine, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding particular 2019 NFL Draft prospects and their place on the big board. For instance, Jonah Williams seems primed for a free-fall, and Jawaan Taylor continues to shoot up draft boards. It has become necessary to update a full 7-round mock draft for the Oakland Raiders given the circumstances.

With three first round selections at their disposal — the two extra picks, of course, acquired in the Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trades —  it is quite possible the Raiders could package the later two and move up to snag a quarterback or an elite edge rusher.

But here in this mock, no trades will take place, and the Raiders maintain four of the top 35 picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. It is a good thing that the team has some serious draft capital as the Raiders also have some serious holes to fill on their roster as well. In fact, ESPN’s Mike Clay recently graded every NFL roster and Oakland came in at the bottom, and it wasn’t even close.

With team needs on the defensive front (specifically on the edge), wide receiver, in their secondary and at running back, the Raiders are going to need to utilize all of the picks that they have in order to infuse a large portions of youth and talent into their rebuilding roster. With assets to build a strong contender into the future, look for Oakland to address the defensive side of the ball heavily.

That being said, we start with the fourth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft as we begin this Oakland Raiders seven-round mock draft.
