Round 7, Pick 21: Ugo Amadi, S, Oregon

This offseason, Marcus Gilchrist is set to hit free agency after signing a one-year deal with the Raiders a year ago. In addition, Karl Joseph cannot seem to get his name out of trade rumors, even though it makes no sense financially to part with the former first round safety. It is a necessary late round investment to draft a safety for security and depth purposes.

Ugo Amadi was a ball hawk in his four years with the Oregon Ducks as both a cornerback and a safety, and translates to the NFL as a full-time safety. However, in the league, having experience playing man coverage, even as a safety, will prove to be valuable.

Over his four year career, Amadi tallied nine total interceptions and batted away a whopping 25 additional passes. He also forced three fumbles in his career and has scored three defensive touchdowns, two during the 2018 season.

It is evident that the 6-0 safety knows how to get his nose around the football, and make plays for the Oregon defense. The Raiders definitely need to add a playmaker to their defense, and while Amadi may have a steep learning curve, he is absolutely worth a seventh round flier. Here near the end of the draft, the Raiders take a chance on the versatile safety out of Oregon.
