Oakland Raiders: Pre-Combine 7-Round 2019 mock draft
By Cory Kinnan
Round 1, Pick 24: Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia
In the first edition of this mock draft, the Raiders selected Kyler Murray with this pick, but now that he has fully committed himself to becoming an NFL quarterback in a weak class at the position, it is highly unlikely that he slips out of the top 10.
While it is possible for the team to package picks to move up and get him, it is unlikely. Instead, Oakland again adds talent to the defensive side of the ball and selects a cornerback to play next to Gareon Conley for years to come.
Deandre Baker is set to become a first round pick in a fairly talented pool that includes Greedy Williams, Byron Murphy and Trayvon Mullen, in addition to himself. While his stock was a roller coaster ride in 2018, Baker finished his season on a high note and now projects as a top-25 prospect.
Heading to Indianapolis, Baker does not project as one of the more athletic corners in his class, but if he can test well enough, he could become a lock in the first round. He is, however, tabbed as one of the more technically gifted corners out of the bunch, and if he can pair that technique with some solid testing, Baker becomes a valuable asset to a needy team. Here he lands with the Raiders.
