Round 5, Pick 3: Caleb Wilson, TE, UCLA

The Raiders enter the offseason with their leading receiver and dependable target for Carr, Jared Cook, set to hit the market. While the Raiders should do everything in their power to retain Cook’s services, that should not deter them from drafting a tight end in this very deep draft class at the position.

Even if the Raiders are able to re-sign and extend Cook, he will be entering his 11th season in the league at the age of 32, so Oakland needs to look for another talented tight end to resume those duties in a year or two. Wilson is yet another talented tight end in this 2019 draft class and has a chance to prove that he belongs in the conversation with Noah Fant, T.J. Hockenson, and Irv Smith Jr. as a tight end with big play ability.

During his one full season as the starting tight end for the Bruins, Wilson put up almost 1,000 yards receiving with four scores, all while averaging over 16 yards per reception. He has shown the ability to stretch the field over the middle and exploit the seam. It will be interesting to see what his testing numbers that the Combine later this month will look like. Wilson lands with the Raiders in the fifth round in this mock.
