Round 2: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa

Noah Fant would fill an immediate need at the tight end position. The Jaguars signed two free agent tight ends in free agency last March. They were injured for most of the season and did not contribute when they were healthy. At Iowa in the 2018 season, Fant caught 78 passes for 1,083 yards with 19 touchdowns, in three seasons. He averaged 13.9 yards per reception. Basically, on average, he moved the chains with each reception.

Fant is the third ranked tight end by WalterFootball.com. Physically, he is very similar to long time Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis. Fant stands six feet five inches tall weighing 241 pounds.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com gives his overview of Fant. He reports the following:

"Pass-catching tight end with the length, acceleration and speed to create matchup challenges both short and long. Fant is at his best in open space and on the move … ability to uncover and hit big plays will still make him a coveted prize for teams ready to add a move tight end as their new matchup toy."

Fant could be utilized like Rob Gronkowski. He is a physical presence that would force opposing secondaries to always account for on the field. Hopefully he is there in the second round for Jacksonville.
