Round 7 – Pick 1: Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State | Pick 2: Jalen Guyton, WR, North Texas

Hakeem Butler is another big receiver from Iowa State. Last year, Jacksonville signed Allen Lazard to the practice squad. Butler, who comes in at 6-6, 225 pounds, is a big play receiver. Last season, he averaged an amazing 22 yards per reception. He caught 60 passes for 1,318 yards with nine touchdowns. Butler is capable of keeping drives alive by making those tough, third down and long, receptions.

There is a chance that Butler is selected earlier than here. Prior to 2018, Lazard was the main Iowa State receiver. However, Butler definitely has the potential to put up good receiving numbers.

Jalen Guyton is a possession type of receiver. He did not put up gaudy numbers at North Texas, but could make big plays. He averaged 15.3 yards per reception in his North Texas career.

Guyton caught 103 passes for 1,580 yards with 15 touchdowns. He stands at 6-1, 202 pounds. He played high school football in Allen, TX with Kyler Murray. Perhaps Guyton can relieve Dede Westbrook as the punt return specialist.

Remember both Butler and Guyton will have to have good Combine performances. Either player could rise or fall, in the eyes of the various NFL teams, by how they react to that pressure to perform. Hopefully they impress the Jaguars organization.
