New York Jets: Pre-Combine 7-round 2019 mock draft
By Cory Kinnan
Round 4, Pick 3: Preston Williams, WR, Colorado State
With the impending free agency of both Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse, the Jets are in need of adding some depth to their wide receiver room. Here at the top of the fourth round, New York lands embattled receiver Preston Williams out of Colorado State.
Originally a five-star recruit who signed with Tennessee, Williams transferred to Colorado State after charges of domestic violence and harassment.
Playing only one season with the Rams after redshirting, Williams had a monster season putting up over 1,300 yards and a titanic 14 touchdowns on 96 catches. If it were not for his off-the-field issues, Williams would here his name being called on the opening night of the draft in the first round; instead he falls to the Jets in the fourth round.
Expect the Jets to be active in free agency to land a big name receiver or two, while also seeking to lock down an extension with Anderson. However, the 6-4 and 210-pound Williams is a name to watch as he has big time NFL potential if he can stay clean off of the field. With no run-ins off of the field since 2015, the Jets take a chance on a talented receiver in Williams.
