The Chicago Bears don’t have a ton of weaknesses, but they could use some more talent at the running back position with one of these three guys.

The Chicago Bears are limited in their assets to improve in the 2019 offseason. They are pretty close to capped out (per Spotrac), and they don’t have a pick in the NFL Draft until No. 88 overall after trading for Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper. While most teams aren’t content to just run things back, the Bears are a lot closer to contending than other teams. They have an elite defense, and they have an offense that should get even better in year two of the Matt Nagy era.

With these limited assets, Bears general manager Ryan Pace will have to get creative to improve the few weaknesses they have. Tarik Cohen is a great talent at the running back position.

However, the team could use a consistent pure runner to pair with him, as they appear unlikely to give that role to Jordan Howard despite a number of strong games throughout his first three seasons. If the team is able to resign a free agent or two, they can try to add an impact player in the middle rounds of the draft.

Even if the team decides to keep Howard in the fold for this season, he is a free agent after this year, and they could move on from him with Cohen and one of these guys running out of the backfield. The running back position has a number of impact players that can be added later in the 2019 NFL Draft, even if they aren’t superstars — another playmaker to help Mitchell Trubisky develop at quarterback will make their offense even better.
