Predicting the Chicago Bears 2019 free agency moves
With the new season and along with it free agency just two weeks away, we take a look at some moves the Chicago Bears need to make to prepare for the 2019 season.
As the month of February ends, the excitement of the Chicago Bears‘ offseason is just starting. This week we have the NFL Combine. Some of the top prospects in the nation descend upon Indianapolis for their job interviews. They’re hoping their names get called during draft weekend.
Before that, however, we have free agency. The new season (and along with it free agency) arrives March 13 at 4:00 p.m. ET. The Bears, along with the rest of the NFL teams, start their annual shopping spree to help them compete for a Super Bowl.
The Bears used last offseason’s spree to overhaul the roster. That, along with the draft, helped them earn a 12-4 record and take the NFC North title. The season ended on a dow,n point, though, when Cody Parkey missed a field goal in the playoffs that ended the season.
This season, because of all the moves made last year and the blockbuster trade that brought linebacker Khalil Mack to Chicago, the Bears don’t have a lot of capital to make many, if any, big moves. If they make some moves, however, they can make enough moves to build on their 2018 success.
Instead of overhauling, the Bears need to tweak the roster. They have some key players on their roster who may leave. General manager Ryan Pace and the rest of the front office need to decide whether they should re-sign them or let them walk. If they do let them walk, they need to find replacement players at affordable prices.
So, instead of a mock draft, I offer you a mock free agency for the Chicago Bears’ 2019 free agency.
