Dallas Cowboys: 5 Players to watch at 2019 NFL Scouting Combine
By Randy Gurzi
2. Isaac Nauta, TE, Georgia
During this past draft, the Dallas Cowboys had to say goodbye to one of the best to ever wear the star. Tight end Jason Witten hung up his cleats and decided to take a job calling Monday Night Football games for ESPN. While it’s true that Witten had slowed down some in 2017, he was better than what they had at the position in 2018.

That’s not meant to knock Geoff Swaim, Blake Jarwin, or rookie Dalton Schultz. Each offers something that makes them worthy of a roster spot, but none were really transcendent for the team. And none were complete packages like Witten was.
There’s hope that Schultz can develop and he’s already a good blocker. But Dallas can’t settle for hope. They need to keep looking for their next star tight end and there will be plenty on display during the Combine and one who can really do himself some favors is Georgia’s Isaac Nauta.
Still developing as both a blocker and receiver, Nauta showed a lot of promise — even if he was under-utilized by the Bulldogs. The underclassman finished his junior year with 430 yards off 30 receptions with three touchdowns. He averaged 14.3 yards per grab and has the potential to be a dual threat at the position, which is exactly why the Boys should be interested.
