Los Angeles Chargers: Travis Benjamin

The Los Angeles Chargers were one of the better teams in the AFC for much of last season. In fact, they finished the year tied for the best record in the conference. Unfortunately, the Kansas City Chiefs had a matching 12-4 record. Due to a tiebreaker, the Chargers were forced to settle for an AFC Wild Card spot with the Chiefs getting home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs.

In the AFC Wild Card round, Los Angeles took care of the Baltimore Ravens on the road, but failed to even show up against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round on the road in Foxborough.

Los Angeles should be right back in the mix next season, but the Chargers have some work to do on both sides of the ball. They may want to consider parting ways with one of their wide receivers.

Prior to the 2016 NFL season, Travis Benjamin signed a lucrative contract with the Chargers, inking a four-year deal worth $24 million. During his time with the Chargers, Benjamin has not performed up to that kind of money. Frankly, he pretty much was a no-show for the team for most of the 2018 season.

In 2019, Benjamin is slated to make $6.5 million, which is a ton of money for someone who hauled in only 12 catches in 2018 and started only three games. If the Chargers do move on from him this offseason, it will cost them less than $2 million in dead cap money. So unfortunately for Benjamin, he could be on his way out of Los Angeles.
