Atlanta Falcons: Vic Beasley Jr.

The Atlanta Falcons really disappointed in 2018, as they were one of a handful of NFC teams that were expected to make it to the playoffs, and did not. As they head into 2019, they have the talent on both sides of the ball to make a run, but have some serious cash invested in a player who has not been the same since 2016.

Vic Beasley Jr. tore up the NFL during the 2016 NFL season, racking up over 15 sacks, while being named an All-Pro. At only 24-years old that fall, Beasley was seen as the cornerstone of the Falcons defense for years to come. Since that breakout 2016 NFL season, he has registered only 10 sacks since, and is going to make a ton of money in 2019.

Of all the players on the Falcons roster, Beasley is slated to make the fourth-most against the cap, as he is a cap hit of over $12 million. That is behind only quarterback Matt Ryan, cornerback Desmond Trufant and wide receiver Julio Jones, three players who are some of the best in the NFL at their respective positions.

Beasley is still very young, but he just has not been the same player, and is not even a full-time starter for the Falcons anymore. If the Falcons do decide to part ways with Beasley, he actually has no dead cap hit. Being on a Falcons team that needs to get better on the defensive side of the ball, he actually could be a cap casualty this NFL season.
