Each NFL team’s worst contract on the books entering 2019

New Orleans Saints: Cameron Meredith
The New Orleans Saints looked like a team that was headed to the Super Bowl this past season, as Drew Brees and company put on a magical run. Unfortunately for Saints fans, that run ended in the NFC Championship Game, as a blown call may have cost Brees his best chance to win a second Lombardi Trophy.
Heading into the 2019 NFL season, the Saints are expected to be right back in the mix once again, but because so much money is tied up in Brees, they have very little cap space entering the new league year. In fact, New Orleans has less than $10 million to spend. So it will be interesting to see how the Saints juggle this roster moving forward.
When it comes to contracts, the Saints gave wide receiver Cameron Meredith a nice contract heading into the 2018 campaign, hoping that his damage knee would hold up. The knee had been blown out the year before when he was a member of the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, he had issues with it once again last season.
Meredith appeared in only six games for the Saints, catching nine balls for 114 yards and a touchdown. Prior to the year, New Orleans gave him a two-year contract worth nearly $10 million, including over $5 million in guaranteed money. He is the eighth-highest paid player on this roster this season. The team could save almost $4 million by letting him go.
