2. Foles an upgrade over Bortles

A quarterback like Blake Bortles can only receive so many chances over the years before the time comes for a team like the Jaguars to realize it’s time to move on. Over the first couple years of his career, Bortles was one of the most difficult quarterbacks to figure out in the NFL since he would shine one week, only to look awful the next.

Rightfully so, Jacksonville seemed confident enough that Bortles was finally on a consistent track during the 2017 season after doing enough on the offensive side of the football to help the Jaguars earn a trip to the AFC Championship before falling to the Patriots.

After this took place, the Jaguars felt confident enough in Bortles continuing to be the quarterback under center for the offense, and rewarded him with quite the hefty extension, which plenty of critics said right away was a mistake based off some of his previous struggles.

Looking back, it’s safe to say that Jacksonville regrets giving Bortles that new deal, and while it would be a tough pill to swallow over the potential financial hit if they were to part ways, at least this seems worth it if the final result is Foles.
