Josh Allen, EDGE, Kentucky

The only other prospect that could challenge Ferrell for that third overall spot, assuming Bosa and Williams are off of the board, is Josh Allen from Kentucky. You would be hard pressed to find another player in college football that was as productive as Allen in 2018. The senior edge rusher decided to stay in school in 2018 and could not have wished for a better outcome to that decision.

The SEC Defensive Player or the Year in 2018, Allen recorded a massive 17 sacks 21.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, over a 100% increase from his Junior campaign where he only registered seven sacks and 10 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Measuring at a massive 6’5 and 260 pounds, Allen has the build to translate his skill at the next level.

It will be interesting to see how Allen tests compared to Ferrell as a battle to become a top-three draft pick is underway, assuming that the Jets do not trade out of the pick with a team in desperate need of a quarterback. While Ferrell has the advantage in the view of this writer, Allen has the chance to vault his stock above the former Clemson Tiger.
