5 Players for New York Jets to watch closely at the NFL Combine
By Cory Kinnan
Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis
If Darrell Henderson manages to slip into the early third round, the New York Jets should run their card to the podium as quickly as possible. After the reports surfaced that the Jets are likely to move on from Isaiah Crowell after just one season, the Jets are in desperate need of a running back. Bilal Powell enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent after a devastating neck injury that is potentially career threatening as well.
This leaves the Jets with Elijah McGuire, who throughout his career averages less than four yards per carry, as the lone back with experience in the running back room. After this weekend, there is real potential that Darrell Henderson may not last into the third round, but again if he does, the Jets need to pull the trigger and get him in the Big Apple.
The explosive running back from the University of Memphis tallied over 2,000 total yards and 22 touchdowns in 2018 while receiving All-American honors. Henderson went back-to-back years with over 1,000 yards on the ground while averaging nearly a whopping nine yards per carry.
While the Jets may address the running back position during free agency, keep a close eye on Henderson this weekend and hope he ends up with the Gang Green.
