The Seattle Seahawks went 10-6 in 2018 and made the postseason. Now it’s time to see how they can improve without breaking the bank.

The Seattle Seahawks have never been the biggest spenders in free agency. In recent years, the team has had more success drafting capable starters and even Pro Bowl talent. Keeping that in mind, there are a couple of free agents in the 2019 offseason who fit the Seahawks price range.

This is an offseason that the Seahawks can’t afford to be completely docile. The team went 10-6 and finished in a Wild Card position in 2018, which was an overachievement for a team many people thought would be rebuilding, but Seattle got eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Now, the expectations will be even higher on the team in 2019. Looking at areas where the team was deficient in last season, head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider will target several players who they think can contribute and help the team improve in 2019.

The Seahawks made several mistakes last offseason when it came to this process. In trying to add players, the team ended up signing a lot of guys who really didn’t contribute at all. For instance, the team signed wide receiver Jaron Brown to a two-year, $5.5 million deal. That’s a lot of cash for the 14 receptions, 166 yards and five touchdowns Brown produced in 2018. He didn’t even end up as the team’s third option at wide receiver.

Tight end Ed Dickson was another egregious mistake. While he did battle some injuries, Dickson was only good for 12 receptions, 143 yards, and three touchdowns in ten games. He’s on a three-year, $10.7 million deal. Luckily, there’s a potential out this offseason for Seattle. Then there was the Brandon Marshall experiment, which lasted just seven games before the team said goodbye to the aging receiver.

Needless to say, the Seahawks are hoping to land more hits on small contracts in 2019 than they did last year. They need more signing like Justin Coleman, who the team signed to a one-year deal worth $2.9 million in 2018. Coleman ended up being one of the best slot corners in the league, but the Seahawks didn’t sign him to a long-term deal. Coleman’s free agency aside, that’s the kind of talent Seattle is looking for this offseason.

With that, let’s take a look at a trio of bargains that would be nice grabs for Seattle.
