Green Bay Packers: 5 Bargains to target in 2019 NFL free agency
By Joe Kipp
WR Jamison Crowder
Jamison Crowder is one of the most intriguing options at receiver in 2019 NFL free agency. After spending four seasons with the Washington Redskins, Crowder has shown he’s more than capable of producing at a high level. He has 221 receptions for 2,628 yards and 14 touchdowns in 56 games.
Crowder’s main calling card comes from what he offers out of the slot. As Gregg Rosenthal and Chris Wesseling of NFL.com put it, “A younger, cheaper Golden Tate? Crowder creates separation quickly near the line of scrimmage and was often Kirk Cousins’ favorite target. Just 25, he could be available at a bargain price coming off an injury-plagued season.”
It appears the Redskins are keen on moving on from Crowder after signing free agent Paul Richardson last offseason, in preparation for this very moment. Besides that, Washington simply doesn’t have the cap space to re-sign Crowder.
With Packers slot receiver Randall Cobb becoming a free agent this offseason, a potential pairing with Crowder makes sense. He’ll likely command somewhere around $8 million in annual average salary (per Spotrac), which isn’t bad considering the fit and his skill-set. At just 25 years old, Crowder would provide a solid option for Aaron Rodgers as he enters the final few seasons of his career.
