It’s often said that landing players in the open market can lead to overpaying, and here are 10 guys about to get paid beyond their worth in NFL Free Agency 2019

Buyer beware, it’s almost time for NFL Free Agency 2019 to begin and there will be boatloads of cash exchanging hands as NFL teams chase their most coveted targets. While some teams will find their missing piece, there will also be some players out there getting way more than they should.

Each year it happens as it takes a lot of cash to lure a player away in free agency. The bidding can get out of control and it happens fast. Just looking back to last season, we saw players land massive contracts — which they quickly underperformed.

For example, quarterback SamBradford was given a contract with the Arizona Cardinals that paid him up to $20 million for his first season with an option for another $20 million for a second year. He lasted just three games with Cardinals before being cut.

Another overpaid player was Carlos Hyde. The Cleveland Browns gave the former San Francisco 49ers running back $15 million over three seasons and shipped him to the Jacksonville Jaguars during the season.

Not every player who gets overpaid is a major bust though. Other guys who were paid too much include Chicago Bears tight end Trey Burton and left tackle Nate Solder of the New York Giants. Both were effective players but were paid like they were elite.

Look for more of the same this season. There will be busts and there will be guys who are good players but are paid like they’re game-changers. With all that being said, here are the top-10 players who will end up getting too much money in free agency this offseason.
