2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kyler Murray climbs in Post-combine two-round projection

10. Denver Broncos: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU
Everything about the Denver Broncos this offseason seemed to hint at them going after Drew Lock from Missouri. The strong-armed kid from Missouri was said to be the apple of general manager John Elway’s eye. It wasn’t just the arm that seemed to connect the two sides, but the fact that the Broncos already had a good bridge-quarterback on board.
In 2018, they brought in Case Keenum on a two-year deal. He didn’t get them the wins they desired, but Keenum still proved to be a decent game manager. Having him compete with Lock would have given them a strong fall back plan had the rookie not been ready.
All that went out the window when Elway traded for Joe Flacco. While Flacco is 34-years old and not the answer for a decade, he has more than one season left in the tank. That indicates that the Broncos made this move with more than just 2019 in mind.
With that being said, they focus again on defense as they select LSU’s Greedy Williams. The 6-2, 180-pound corner needs to add some bulk, but his ball skills are impressive. He should help get defenses off the field, giving Flacco more opportunities to prove he was the right choice under center.
