2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kyler Murray climbs in Post-combine two-round projection

12. Green Bay Packers: Devin White, LB, LSU
The Green Bay Packers do have a couple of needs and pass rusher may be their most pressing. That could get even worse with the expected departure of Clay Matthews, although he hasn’t been providing the same kind of pressure he did early in his career. They do have Nick Perry, but injuries have been a problem for him throughout much of his career.
Still, they have two picks in the first round thanks to a trade they made last season with the New Orleans Saints. With that being the case, they don’t feel pressured to go after a specific position but instead can focus on the best player available. In this mock, that ends up being Devin White out of LSU.
While inside linebacker doesn’t seem like a big need at first glance, the fact is the Packers defense has been suspect for a few seasons now. Adding a player like White can improve that for them as he’s the kind of player who can fly all over the field and make plays. He will help against the run as he’s got great instincts and tackles with authority. In addition to his prowess at finding the ball carrier, White is more than capable in zone coverage so he can help there as well.
