14. Atlanta Falcons: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

Entering this season, Ed Oliver was looked at as the potential No. 1 overall player in the draft. The Houston defensive tackle was heralded for his ability to penetrate the gap and generate pressure from the interior. However, his star cooled off some thanks to players like Quinnen Williams breaking out — and with Williams sliding due to Murray going No, 1, Oliver also falls.

That’s fine by the Atlanta Falcons, who add the talented defensive tackle here. Atlanta has some stars on their defensive line but there are questions surrounding Takk McKinley and Vic Beasley, not to mention free agency looming for Grady Jarrett. Whether or not they retain Jarrett, Oliver will be a great addition.

As for Oliver, one question potential teams might have will be in regards to his sideline incident where he was seen in a heated argument with head coach Major Applewhite — over a jacket of all things. Oliver has already addressed this, but there will surely be more questions coming for him during the process.

"“Last night is not who I am,” Oliver said in a statement released through the school via Sam Khan, Jr. of ESPN. “I’m very passionate about the game of football and last night there was a misunderstanding. I was caught in an emotional moment. I have the utmost respect for Coach Applewhite and I appreciate the support of Coach Applewhite and my teammates during this time. I love my brothers, my team and my city and I’m looking forward to moving forward with them together. Go Coogs!”"

Oliver shouldn’t have even had to say that much. Sidelines get heated and the fact that he got mad over a dumb rule about jackets shouldn’t be held against him. But we all know how the interviews work leading up to the draft.
