2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kyler Murray climbs in Post-combine two-round projection

16. Carolina Panthers: Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State
Another team that needs to make improvements to their offensive line is the Carolina Panthers. For years, they’ve had issues at left tackle and it’s started to cause them major problems as Cam Newton was slowed by injuries once again in 2018.
While his style of play won’t allow him to escape getting banged up, adding a strong tackle will help alleviate some of the problems. That’s why they grab Washington State offensive tackle Andre Dillard at this point. It wasn’t long ago that Dillard felt like he would be a pick in day two, but he’s sky-rocketed up many boards and is being tabbed as one of the best pass-blockers in the draft.
He also showed off some agility at the Scouting Combine, which will only further cement his status as a first-day selection. As for the Panthers, they need a player like him out there keeping the pocket clean. As good as Newton is with mobility, Carolina as a whole was better when they had a capable player at this position.
Back in 2015 with Michael Oher on the roster, they reeled off 15 wins and made it to the Super Bowl. They may not be favorites just with this addition but it makes them much better.
