2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kyler Murray climbs in Post-combine two-round projection
By Randy Gurzi
20. Pittsburgh Steelers: Devin Bush, LB, Michigan
The Pittsburgh Steelers defense hasn’t been the same since losing linebacker Ryan Shazier to a spinal injury. The former star linebacker has still been a huge part of the team as he’s been present at many games and practices, but his play on the field is sorely missed.
With the No. 20 pick in this mock draft, they try and find a player who can do some of the things on the field that Shazier could. Their choice is Michigan’s Devin Bush, who may get passed by some teams due to being shorter than an average linebacker.
Bush, the son of a former NFL player, measured in at 5-11 and 234 pounds at the combine. While his weight won’t be an issue, his height could be. However, he still has the talent to make an impact at the next level due to his incredible instinct and strength at the position. In addition to what he brings as a tackler, Bush is a plus defender when playing in coverage.
Right now, there’s a lot of noise around the Steelers organization — and there could be a lot of change coming. They could use an infusion of talent to help calm all that and Bush brings plenty of that.
