23. Houston Texans: David Edwards, OT, Wisconsin

The Houston Texans absolutely have to draft a tackle at this point and that’s what they do by grabbing David Edwards from Wisconsin. It’s hard to figure out where he will go because Edwards is still learning the position and really didn’t do great when testing at the combine. Jon Ledyard of The Draft Network even listed him as one of the losers from the offensive line class.

"The converted tight end was supposed to show high-end athleticism and upside with his Combine performance, and instead the opposite happened. Edwards didn’t stand out in a single drill, posting below-average results across the board and failing to show great footwork in positional workouts as well."

While none of that is flattering, Edwards does have some solid tape out there. He also comes from a school known for sending great offensive linemen into the NFL. He’s also better than some of the other options like Greg Little, who may have fared even worse at the combine.

There’s still a chance the Texans could move up to get a premier tackle, but they have to do something. If they don’t, they can’t expect Deshaun Watson to last as he’s been running for his life the past two seasons now.
