30. Green Bay Packers (via New Orleans Saints): Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida State

The Green Bay Packers already improved their defense earlier by selecting LSU linebacker Devin White and now they add an edge rusher in Brian Burns out of Florida State. Heading into the combine, Burns looked like someone who may have been a day two pick due to his weight. He was listed around roughly 235 pounds at FSU but measured in at 249 this weekend.

The added weight will help the concerns about him holding up against NFL offensive tackles, but what really improved his stock was the fact that he still showed incredible athleticism. Burns ran his 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds and then was impressive with his 36-inch vertical jump as well.

That kind of skill should have him drafted much higher than this even, but the 2019 class is so talented that it’s hard to see him going much higher without an edge-needy team trading back into the first round.

Should things work out this way, the Packers will be more than happy. Burns has the length and explosion to be a stud in their 3-4 defense as they land the coveted pass rusher they have needed for years.
