It was a very uneven 2018 for one the league’s more consistent franchise. What moves can the Pittsburgh Steelers make to get the team back on even keel?

After overcoming a 1-2-1 start, Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers reeled off six consecutive wins. And with a 7-2-1 record after 10 games, the club appeared well on its way to a fifth consecutive playoff appearance. But some funny things would be happening to the team from the Steel City that apparently would not be revealed until after the season ended.

All told, Tomlin’s club would suddenly dropped three straight games and wound up losing four of its final six contests. And while the often-criticized head coach still hasn’t finished with a losing record in 12 NFL campaigns, the team’s 9-6-1 finish wasn’t good enough to get back to the postseason.

Now the Steelers are preparing to move forward without two of the more prolific offensive players in the league. The club opted not to give running back Le’Veon Bell either the franchise or transition tag and he will test free agency.

On the other hand, outspoken wide receiver Antonio Brown has had a lot to say lately and his tenure with the club appears ready to be coming to an end after nine seasons with the franchise (more on that later).

So how will the Pittsburgh Steelers rebound from last year’s big disappointment? Can they regain the top spot in the AFC North? Can the franchise get back to a Super Bowl for the first time since 2010? Here are five moves that could aid the cause for Tomlin and company.
