Round 4: Foster Moreau, TE, LSU

The re-addition of Jason Witten on the Dallas roster gives them a starting tight end in 2019 but that won’t be a long-term solution as he will be 37-years of age and had already lost a step before heading to the ESPN booth this past season. With that in mind, the team needs to add more depth besides Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz as they continue to search for the successor to No. 82.

In this mock, they grab a player who fits their style of play like a glove in LSU’s Foster Moreau. What makes him such a fit for Dallas is his willingness to get involved as a blocker in the run game.

"“Moreau is a feisty, committed run-blocking tackle with solid technique and footwork to find proper angles in-line or on the move. He’s tough enough to battle at the point of attack, but at his best when he’s a lead blocker on iso, wham blocks, and outside zone with his ability to locate and land on second-level targets. He lacks finesse as a route-runner and is too content to be covered when matched up against a linebacker. While he’s not dynamic, he should find work as a run-blocking option who can be moved around formations.” ‚— Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"

Moreau wasn’t utilized much in the passing game by the Tigers but he showed his agility at the Scouting Combine when he posted a 4.66 in the 40-yard dash while jumping 36.5 inches in the vertical leap. He’s a player reminiscent of a young Witten and can grow at the feet of one of the best to play the game.
