2. Understand that it’s not a one-year fix

With Aaron Rodgers under center, you’re always going to be a contender to win every game. However, this team should be looking towards 2020 as their season to win a title, especially with a new head coach implementing a new system that could take a year before it gets fully implemented.

They also have more holes than they’re going to be able to fix in one offseason, and that’s why they need to look towards next season as their year to put everything together and make a run.

Rather than focusing on players that are going to be one-year rentals, the focus should be on adding players that are going to build their core. Build sustainable success by making smart decisions every year. This is how the New England Patriots have been the best franchise in the NFL for two decades. They rarely hand out a bad contract in free agency, and they know how to replace the players they lose effectively.

This offseason is huge for Green Bay to maximize the remainder of Rodgers’ prime. If they fail this offseason, it’s going to limit their competitive window and set them further back. Football is about building a dynasty. It’s about sustaining your success over multiple years at a time. So if Green Bay is able to win in free agency with smart long-view additions, it’s going to only improve them for future seasons.
