Round 2, Pick 36: Amani Oruwariye, CB, Penn State

A winner at the combine, Amani Oruwariye is now a fringe first rounder and will more than likely not last any longer than the top-40 in the NFL Draft. Needing help in their secondary, the 49ers select him here in this mock draft with the 36th overall pick.

Oruwariye measured off the charts to begin his Combine, measuring in the upper 90th percentile in both height and weight nearly 6-2 and 205 pounds. He went on to run a sub 4.5-second 40 at 4.47 seconds and hit 36.5 inches on his vertical jump. With that size and athleticism, Oruwariye has all of the tools to become a lockdown cornerback at the next level.

While Richard Sherman is a solid corner, he is on the last year of his deal and is already 30 years old. With that being said, drafting a potential franchise corner now and giving him a year to learn the ropes would benefit both the 49ers and Oruwariye to learn from a Pro Bowler that Sherman was in his prime.

With their second round selection, the Niners add a potential first round talent to their roster and hope to solidify their defense even further by selecting the Penn State corner Oruwariye.
