Round 6, Pick 214: Cody Barton, LB, Utah

Last year, the 49ers drafted Fred Warner, a linebacker from BYU, who paid off handedly for San Francisco. And in this mock ,they take another backer from the state of Utah in Cody Barton. The Ute put himself of the map at the combine and is now on the radar of NFL teams.

Measuring in at 6-2 and 237 pounds, Barton has plenty of size to compete at the next level, and he showed that he has the strength to back up that size by pressing an impressive 30 reps on the bench press. This ranks him in the 94th percentile of all linebackers at the combine.

To go along with his size and strength, Barton also ranked in the 80th percentile in the 60-yard shuttle, 82nd percentile in the 3-cone drill and in the 96th percentile in the 20-yard shuttle. This sort of burst on a frame such as the one that Barton carries can make for one monstrous linebacker.

In the sixth round, the Niners add a replacement plan for Malcolm Smith and a potential special team standout in Barton from the University of Utah. They may even have found the gem of the draft.
