While the Carolina Panthers have made it clear that he won’t be back with the team in 2019, it certainly appears that outside linebacker Thomas Davis isn’t ready to hang it up.

“I’m not retiring,” explained the 35-year-old pro on Twitter back in January. “I feel like I have way too much football left in me to walk away from the game right now…Panther nation, just know that in no way did I ever imagine putting on another uniform — still to this day don’t want to do it. But I want to play football. So if that’s the way I’m going to be able to continue my career, then it’s something that I have to do.”

With the team moving on, could general manager Marty Hurney reach out to a veteran like Jamie Collins to team with middle man Luke Kuechly and four-year pro Shaq Thompson? A second-round pick by the New England Patriots back in 2013, he comes off a season with the Cleveland Browns in which he started all 16 games for the first time in his six-year career.

This past season, Collins led his team with 104 tackles, to go along with four sacks, two takeaways and four passes defensed. The 29-year old performer, dealt to Cleveland during the 2016 season, certainly has plenty of football left in his future.
