Pittsburgh Steelers: 7-Round 2019 mock draft after Antonio Brown trade
The Pittsburgh Steelers will ship Antonio Brown to Oakland, adding two additional picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. A new 7-round mock looks at what they do.
It’s been the worst-kept secret in sports that the Pittsburgh Steelers were trying to trade Antonio Brown. General manger Kevin Colbert said as much, Brown made his feelings clear and it was obvious that almost any team in the NFL would at least want to inquire about one of the top-tier wide receivers in the league.
On Saturday night/Sunday morning, however, the deal was finally put in place as the Steelers were able to agree to a trade with the Oakland Raiders. In return, the Steelers will receiver a third- and fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. While the return isn’t too substantial, it no doubt beefs up the draft capital for a Pittsburgh club that is going to have to do some remodeling entering 2019.
This trade was actually the second deal that the Steelers pulled off within the span of 48 hours as well. Just a couple days prior, Pittsburgh sent starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert to the Arizona Cardinals in exchanged for a sixth-rounder in the 2019 NFL Draft. Subsequently, a Steelers organization that previously had just seven selections in the 2019 draft bumped that number up to 10 picks with two trades.
Given that the Steelers are now without Brown and will be without Le’Veon Bell moving forward now, in addition to the holes that were already present on the roster, it’s clear that this team has some serious moves to make this offseason and holes that must be addressed. Subsequently, they should be wise and diligent in making that happen in the 2019 draft.
And that’s what we’ve tried to do here. With that, let’s dig in to a new seven-round mock draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers following the Antonio Brown trade.
