The Dallas Cowboys are proving to be an overly tight franchise when it comes to free agency spending, so here are three players who could fit in their budget

In the past, the Dallas Cowboys have gone crazy spending in free agency. That was, of course, back when Jerry Jones was the main decision maker when it came to player contracts.

However, that’s changed in the past few seasons as his son, Stephen Jones, has taken a more active role in the personnel decisions. The shift started out nice as the younger Jones had a goal in mind of getting the team out of the salary cap prison they had been in for years.

His philosophy in this was to draft well and sign their own players. That seems fine on the surface, but in order to get over the top, they need to be willing to spend at least some money in free agency.

To their credit, they did try to break the bank on Sammy Watkins a season ago — but were bailed out on that one by the Kansas City Chiefs. This season, they’re rumored to still be talking to safety Earl Thomas, but there’s no telling where that will go considering the Boys have proven they will not back off what they want to pay for a player.

With their new super-tight approach to free agency here to stay, fans may need to start getting used to bargain bin shopping. With that being said, here are three players who can fit into their incredibly tight budget while actually helping the team improve in 2019.
