Nick Foles brings excitement and high expectations for the Jacksonville Jaguars fans as they paid the quarterback big money in NFL free agency.

Early reports prior to the start of NFL free agency were that Nick Foles was going to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. And as free agency started, the team will indeed sign the quarterback. Although it’s not a surprise, Foles will get a big pay raise. Foles’ deal is expected to be a four-year contract worth $88 million with a chance to bump up to $102 million, according to Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com.

The signing of Foles gives the Jaguars fans excitement for the upcoming season. After all, Foles has a championship ring and was the MVP of Super Bowl LII. Don’t forget that John DiFilippo coached Foles in that Super Bowl. Hopefully they can re-create the magic.

The Jaguars fans have suffered through many futile seasons. They have longed for the glory days when Mark Brunell led the offense. Blake Bortles came close in 2017, but reverted back to familiar form that frustrated the Jaguars fandom.

There are going to be high expectations for Foles. Winning the next Super Bowl might be a reach, but the fans will be expecting a much improved offense. Foles will need help to make the offense better.

Since Jacksonville will sign Foles, expect the Jaguars to address the offensive line and tight end spots in the draft. Also, DeFilippo will tweak the offense to fit Foles. It might be safe to say that the offense will be retooled if not rebuilt entirely.

Foles has to be excited about being the face of the Jaguars. In his career, he has started 44 games for three different teams. He has a winning record of 26-18, which should add to the excitement of adding a winning quarterback.

Really, the front office must add quality players around Foles for success now and beyond. Talent evaluation is the key for that success. Most of all, Jacksonville needs to find their identity on offense. Whether it’s a run first offense or the run-pass option, Foles should give the Jaguars an offensive identity.
