Oakland Raiders: 7-Round 2019 mock draft after free agency first wave
By Cory Kinnan
The Oakland Raiders draft strategy has wildly changed after landing Antonio Brown in a massive trade and spending big in free agency.
Now deep into free agency, the Oakland Raiders have plugged holes along the offensive line, at wide receiver, and in their secondary with the additions Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, Lamarcus Joyner and Trent Brown, among others. Given the amount of draft capital that the team has, they are now well positioned to either fill more voids on their roster or trade up to land a particular, hot topic quarterback that Jon Gruden is rumored to be smitten by.
With holes filled and team needs changed, the Raiders draft board is certain to look a bit different heading into pro days and the post-Combine season of the pre-draft process. Still needing some help in the secondary, along the defensive front, and at linebacker, it would not be a shock to see the Raiders address those positions early.
It will also be interesting to see just how committed Oakland is to current quarterback Derek Carr and how the team views their chances of competing within the next two years. If the team feels like they can compete now, it would not be shocking in the least to see them go all in on this draft, moving up to add talent with their various draft assets.
However, if they do not view themselves as immediate competitors, the Raiders could trade down and stack even more assets onto the ones they already have.
Here is an updated 7-round mock draft for the Raiders now that the combine is in the rear, and the team has added four key players to their roster.
