Round 1, Pick 24 (via Chicago Bears): Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia

This year’s cornerback class is not nearly as good as it was hyped up to be, and the combine proved that there may not be one worth spending a top-20 pick on. This means that more than one of the top corners in the class should be available at the 24th overall pick for the Raiders to take. Here, they land Deandre Baker from the University of Georgia.

Baker put up a consistent performance at the combine, running close to a 4.5 flat, a great time for the guy pegged as the least athletic and most technically sound. While Baker may be the best corner in the class, expect Greedy Williams to be taken ahead of him due to his speed and athleticism, to the benefit of Oakland.

There were, however, question marks raised about Baker’s work ethic at the combine, with some saying that he did not prepare well or push himself to get into the best shape possible. Again, every corner in this class has a glaring flaw that weakens the overall group.

"“Based on what I’ve heard about Deandre Baker’s football character, the shockingly small amount of work he put into training for the Combine and the dismal results he subsequently achieved, I would expect him to ‘fall’ in the draft.” (via Jon Ledyard from The Draft Network)"

Pairing him with Gareon Conley, who took a huge step forward at the end of the season, the Raiders could build a dominant “no fly zone” for years to come. Baker becomes a Raider with the 24th pick in the draft.
